Dr Rajesh Chandra Inspector General (R) was born at Jalandhar, Punjab. He did his schooling from St.Joseph's College, Coonoor before moving to Chandigarh. After completing his BSc (Medical) from Panjab University he did his MBBS from Govt Medical College, Amritsar. He joined the BSF in Feb 1987 as an Assistant Commandant. His journey in uniform colours has seen him serve in various Command Headquarters and field formations of the BSF. He has served with the CRPF in Ajmer as a DIG and was the Director (Medical) of the elite National Security Guard (NSG) - the 'Black Cats' for over 3 years. He has done his Hospital Administration Course from National Institute of Health and Family Welfare, Delhi. Dr Rajesh Chandra in recognition of his unblemished services to the nation was awarded the President's Medal for Meritorious Service on the occasion of the Republic Day- 2014. His special interests includes , working with Differently Abled and Children with Special Needs. He is married to Renu and they are blessed with two daughters. The elder is married to a Lt.Cdr in the Indian Navy and the younger daughter is a medical graduate and will be moving to Germany for higher studies. Dr Rajesh retired as Inspector General Medical of ITBP last year and has now settled in Wellington.
